Galerie Lafayette Presents:
"MMIX:

Tina Girouard and Mare Martin
"
The Galerie Lafayette proudly features a rare two-person art exhibition entitled
MMIX a combination of the new works of Tina Girouard and Mare Martin. MMIX is an inspired exploration of their shared lives, art works and home environments. MIX is what the artists are doing and the roman numerals of the calendar year 2009 is MMIX.
Mare Martin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from (USL) University of Louisiana
at Lafayette. She has exhibited nationally and internationally over a 30 year career. Her art covers a wide range of concept, expression and style. She is also a life-long natural gardener and her current works reflect sustained
observations of nature in the fields and gardens surrounding her studio in Opelousas.
Tina Girouard was born in Louisiana and migrated to New York to join the
contemporary art movements of the late 60's and the 70's. She is a distinguished multi-disciplinary artist recognized for installation works, performances, video and film, and static works made of non-traditional media. Her latest photographic works use light and handheld motion as a drawing tool.
